Restoring KDE Multiple Monitor Display Settings
When running multiple monitors on KDE, the current display settings may not be restored after reboot. Replacing xrandrmonitor with kscreen is one easy way to work around this.
Solution
The following steps have been tested in KDE 4.13 to 4.14.9 on ArchLinux. First, install kscreen via your distro’s package manager, i.e. on ArchLinux:
# pacman -S kscreen
Now unload and remove xrandrmonitor from KDE modules:
# qdbus-qt4 org.kde.kded /kded org.kde.kded.unloadModule randrmonitor
# qdbus-qt4 org.kde.kded /kded org.kde.kded.setModuleAutoloading randrmonitor false
Then load the kscreen KDE module:
# qdbus-qt4 org.kde.kded /kded org.kde.kded.loadModule kscreen
